Paula Manso Teixeira, Entrepreneur

My homeland is sunny, warm and sometimes humid. It is also slow-going, and the sea is omnipresent, which is liberating for the soul. It is sometimes a terra incognita, reserved and somehow a little frantic and envious. It is certainly an old land, full of ancient stone and lime.

“My homeland is sunny, warm and sometimes humid. It is also slow-going, and the sea is omnipresent, which is liberating for the soul. It is sometimes a terra incognita, reserved and somehow a little frantic and envious. It is certainly an old land, full of ancient stone and lime.” These are the words of Paula Manso, born in Funchal but self-defined as a “citizen of the world”. The businesswoman that brings fusion cuisine to Funchal through the project Boho, challenges the visitors to get to know every corner and flavour of the island. “With only just 740 km, it doesn’t make sense to leave out any of the counties”, she says. And guarantees that we can’t leave Madeira without visiting the Farmer’s market, Funchal’s Cathedral, Igreja do Colégio, climbing the Monte, diving in the sea and wandering the alleyways of Funchal.
