Carla Cabral was born in Funchal 47 years ago and discusses the question of insularity and isolation in her Project Bluette. As an islander, despite experiences that limit her as an artist and citizen, Carla Cabral does not fail to easily recognize the qualities of her island. “Madeira has a lot of sun and human warmth,” she starts by saying.”It has the most hospitable people,” she adds. Cultural centers such as Mudas – Museum of Contemporary Art of Madeira and the Baltazar Dias Municipal Theater enliven the days of this artist and teacher. And they deserve guided tours. A day spent by the sea is perfect for her, but the recipe she “prescribes” any visitor before leaving the island includes cooked corn and mackerel with “vilão” sauce.
