REVEALING A UNIQUE FORM OF SYMBIOSIS BETWEEN CULTURE AND ART, HISTORY AND MODERNITY, AS WELL AS BETWEEN PATRIMONY AND NATURE, OLIVEIRA DO BAIRRO INVITES VISITORS TO CREATE MEMORIES AND TRULY LIVE OUT THEIR EMOTIONS.

Lagoa Park
Situated at the ‘heart’ of Bairrada, between the hills and the sea, Oliveira do Bairro is a territory with a heritage rich in cultural, artistic, historic and natural examples and values.
The Quartel das Artes (Arts’ Garrison) is one of the best cultural equipment in Portugal’s central region, while Radiolândia – Radio Museum has an important, internationally renowned collection and the Bairrada’s Ethnomusicology Museum keeps an important collection connected to the origins of Bairrada’s music.

Cerâmica Rocha
The pieces of urban art from artists such as Coletivo Nora, Bordalo II and António Conceição, dispersed throughout the municipality, represent its history, people and traditions, with a touch of modernity.
The rice fields around Cértima Valley and the storks that overfly the region are its natural wealth symbols. The lakeside parks, associated with the Fermentelos Natural Lake (Pateira) and Aveiro’s Ria, are integrated in the Aveiro’s Ria Special Protected Zone.

Storks’Route
On the gastronomic front, the highlights include Bairrada’s Roasted Piglet, and Rojões (Fried Pork) with Potatoes and Turnip Greens. To go along, there is always a good wine from a local producer, and to finish, try the local sweet, Bateiras from Cértima, a rice and pumpkin pastry.
