Lídia Góes Ferreira, Anthropologist and Museology Expert

Only by treking the island in its totality will the visitor know the true madeiran identity

The director of Madeira’s Ethnographic Museum thinks that any day in the island is perfect. When she presents the region to those who don’t know it, she always emphasizes its excellence as a destination, the amazing weather and the diversity of natural heritage. But she also highlights the cultural heritage, the quality of life and the hospitality of its people. “Only by treking the island in its totality will the visitor know the true madeiran identity”, says Lídia Góes Ferreira, born in Funchal 52 years ago and connected to Madeira’s Etnographic Museu, since its creation, two decades ago. This museum is a must visit, because of its work in valuating and promoting the cultural identity of the archipelago. A project that Lídia considers a priority, along with her three children and the love of travel.
