In charge of the A2Z company, operating in the field of real estate investments, she lives in Cascais since a young age and would not exchange it for any other address in the country or probably even in the rest of the world. And though her current professional activity includes commuting constantly to Lisbon, it is certain that her heart stays behind at the village. When we question her about the reasons for this passion, she responds like this: “Cascais is a very charismatic village. On one hand isn’t very developed, on the other has everything to make us feel permanently on holidays: is near to Guincho and Sintra; has a microclimate which preserves good weather when Lisbon’s is terrible; has history; and, of course, the best fish and pint of beer in the world” (laughs)
A place in the city you consider yours?
Casa da Guia. Right in front of my house and I go there all the time. Either for lunch, hairdresser or shopping. It’s my garden!
Places that the visitor cannot miss?
It is essential to visit the Guincho beach, the Cidadela, the Cresmina Dune viewpoint, the Village Market, which has now been rehabilitated, and of course, enjoy some Santini ice cream!
That postcard picture that says “I’ve been here”, must be taken where?
Guincho, with the mountains of Sintra behind.
A typical habit of the people of Cascais?
Eat sardines in the summer, snails, surfing and watching the sunset.
The first restaurant you’ll go to with a foreigner?
Mar do Inferno, where the fish is wonderful.
The restaurant that is your canteen?
I do not have one. The great diversity of restaurants “compels me” to vary, but since I am a big fan of sushi, Pé na Poça restaurant, with excellent sushi and a balcony facing Poça Beach, has been one of the places of choice. Another is Praia Caffé, already in Oeiras, also with excellent view, fish and service.
The restaurant to ask someone to marry you?
Maybe Grelhas, with its fantastic view, or Grand Real Villa Itália´s restaurant.
What to eat in Cascais?
Fish, seafood, Meste Zé’s cataplana, the ice creams and the areias.
The three hotels of your choice?
Pousada de Cascais, in the citadel, Miragem and Martinhal Cascais.
The cafés that leave Cascais proud?
Three mandatory stops in Cascais nightlife?
Besides Secret Bar, with much pity, there isn’t great nightlife in Cascais. Near Cascais, in Praia do Forte, Oeiras, there is the BBeach, which is the best beach club in the area.
An ideal shopping map would include which destinations?
For the visitor I would recommend the shops in Rua Direita.
What are the best leisure activities around here?
“Esplanated” (laughs) … and, of course, outdoor activities, horse riding, surf, sailing, kitesurf… Guincho is full of people doing kitesurf.
A perfect day here is…
The morning includes a walk between the Cresmina Dune and Guincho, where the view can not be more spectacular. Watching the sunset is also a must, followed by some snacks with friends. And a perfect day ends up in bed at eleven at night!
