Lisbon ‘Low Cost’?: the city to visit without spending a cent

Even with the dangers of tourism ‘disneyfication’, Lisbon assures her best side of the bargain: places to visit and things to see and do for free.

Lisbon is on the map, the one that pulls tourists in as if there was no tomorrow. So for foreigners and locals alike, the sense that this city can literally offer things for free is losing strength. In fact, it’s quite the contrary: there are new viewpoints or rooftops turning Lisbon and her seven hills into an art gallery of its own, actual art galleries or museums that pick a day a week or each month when you don’t pay a cent, better gardens or forest and recreational parks and a roll of free activities through cultural associations and groups. No charge. Or for less than €5, at least.

So you don’t pay a cent, right? Of course there’s always the restaurants, but in Lisbon and along the river into the Atlantic (Oeiras, Cascais, Sintra) there are plenty of options of great meals under €10. Have a look at our selections.
