Márcio Abreu is also known as DJ Michael C, a renowned name on Madeira’s nightlife circuit. Born in Funchal 34 years ago, he considers Madeira an idyllic spot, where the privileges of nature walk hand in hand with a cosmopolitan city and where the locals welcome visitors with an open heart. “I love my homeland”, confesses Márcio Abreu, who besides being a DJ is also the Artistic Coordinator of the Madeira Casino. In his opinion, a perfect day on the island would include a swim at the Seixal Naval Club Beach Complex, if it is very hot, or a drink of “poncha” at some cosy mountain refuge, if the weather is rainy and cold. At night, whatever the time of year, nothing better than enjoying “amazing cocktails” at the Madeira Casino, which according to Márcio Abreu also boasts the island’s best nightclub: Copacabana. The DJ also highly recommends a drive along the North coast, with obligatory stops in Fanal and Seixal, as well as a visit to the neighbouring small island of Porto Santo.
