Miguel Pires, Food Writer

Não podemos ir embora de Lisboa sem... comer um cliché, perdão, um pastel de nata (ou dois, ou seis), ou sem antes debruçarmo-nos sobre o Tejo

Speaking objectively, he steals the title from the chocolate cake and introduces Lisbon as the best city in the world. The “aligner of words on gastronomy”, author of the book “Lisboa à Mesa” (Lisbon at the Table), co-author of the blog Mesa Marcada and collaborator in several publications, he scours the restaurants in the city, always paying attention to the other enchantments of the capital. Living in Lisbon for 25 years, Miguel Pires considers himself from Lisbon, in spite of being born in Rio Maior. He praises the history, the architecture, the culture, the mixture of peoples and the light of the capital. He stands out Alfama quarter, Chiado and Príncipe Real because, “in a more popular or bourgeois way, represent the uniqueness of the city”. He enjoys wandering around the streets and alleys and be surprised by details never seen before. To the visitors, one piece of advice: not to leave without “eating a cliché”, that is one, or two, or six… pastéis de nata (custard pies).
