The Vice-President of the São Vicente Municipal Council was born in Paris, but arrived at Madeira when he was just three years old; here, he came to discover what he considers today to be “a nature island, of unparalleled beauty and wonderful experiences”. Fernando Simão de Góis confesses to be an enthusiast of everything that the São Vicente municipality has to offer: “the Laurissilva, the ‘levadas’ and trails, the sea and the surf, the gastronomy and the quality of the lodging, the astonishing panoramic views, where the sea and the mountain naturally embrace”. A motor sports’ enthusiast – he indicates as biggest personal achievements, both his specialization in Financial Analysis and the participation in the Rally Vinho da Madeira – Fernando Góis does not omit all the other outdoor activities that his island proposes: “surf, boat rides, diving, fishing, walking, mountain biking, canyoning, trail running, birdwatching, paragliding …”. But if leisure is inviting, the feature that Fernando believes is the island’s real magic and that makes it merit, year after year, the title of ‘World’s Best Island Destination’, is its people’s knowledge of how to receive”.
