Vítor Sobral has his roots in Melides, a parish in Grândola’s municipality. His parents and grandparents were born here and the family still keeps a property nearby, where the Chef likes to return for some wind down time. Although he was not born here, Vítor Sobral still keeps the memories of the vacations spent in Melides, including those involving the local gastronomic traditions. The child of great cooks, he has not shunned that inheritance and has applied it consistently, having become one of the most celebrated Portuguese chefs; in fact, his reputation in Portugal and abroad has granted him the Honorific Honour of Grand Commander of the Order of Infante D. Henrique. With addresses in Portugal and in Brazil – where he serves his delicacies in his multiple restaurants – Vítor Sobral often seeks refuge at his Melides’ home. While here, he searches basically for the pleasures of outdoor life, which he finds at the beautiful beaches, and in the company of family and friends; since he usually cooks for those that accompany him here, he does not know the local restaurant scenery very well. However, it has always been his dream to one day, provide his hometown with “a quality restaurant like it truly deserves”.
